Client:
Bloomberg American Health Initiative
What they do:
The Bloomberg American Health Initiative is an incubator supported by Johns Hopkins University to develop and test high impact public health projects that address the key issues impacting Americans' life expectancy.
Project info:
U.S. cities have seen a growing demand for safer walking and biking options in recent years. This national investigation on the impacts of lane width on traffic safety looks at opportunities to make communities safer and healthier by narrowing vehicle lanes to accommodate better sidewalk and bike lane facilities.
My role:
In order to show the effect of the study, which proved that narrowing travel lanes on public roads created healthier and safer communities for all, I designed an interaction where as the user scrolls through the site, the illustrations of the aerial road shift, showing a lively community springing up around the car at the center of the experience. I used the opportunity to create something special while still working within the larger Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health brand system.
