SmithGifford Website

One of my first projects at SmithGifford was to redesign their site. Their old website was made completely in Flash. While very cool, we were not getting the search results we wanted, nor was the site readable on some mobile devices. We also wanted to give the visitor a taste of the organization. SmithGifford is known as the playful yet mindful ad agency in the area, and there are chalkboards everywhere in the office. Basically, they just needed a site that reflected what they are actually about.

Since there’s always plenty to do when you work at an advertising agency, redesigning and developing the SmithGifford website was something of a “when you have spare time” project. I had not been given a firm deadline for the site until SmithGifford went through some major staffing changes–which they were going to announce quickly. Suddenly, a leisurely built website became a project that needed to be completed in the short span of about a seven days. With the design completed over the course of the work week, I had only the weekend to develop the site in its entirety. Facing a tight deadline, I burned the candle at both ends to get this site completed. It took about 70 ounces of black coffee, 4 Sugarfree Redbulls and countless Diet Cokes, but I was able to have the site up, running, and debugged just hours before the company’s big announcement.
